Friends With (Musical) Benefits

“You listened to … Here’s a song you might like..” or so Spotify thinks.

Discovering a new band is like winning the indie jackpot, a prize coveted by music lovers alike. Personally, I don’t tend to test my luck with streaming services’ computer generated suggestions when yearning for a new band to obsess over. Ever since I started college, I have met so many people with really unique tastes in music, who I trust with my life as a music listener when it comes to finding new music. Whenever I find myself hitting repeat on the same playlists over and over again, I ask my musically inclined friends for some suggestions, which almost always results in me learning about a new band that becomes the new focus of my fan-girling. Discovering new music this way is so much more personal because your friends know you and what you like, in ways that no music streaming service ever could. I hope that sometime in your life you are lucky enough to have friends like this, because after all, these are some of the best kinds of friends there are! Check out some of my favorite songs that were recommended by friends!
